Opel Astra Sports Tourer now can be ordered and the first deliveries will start later this year. The entry level Sports Tourer is the 1.4 ecoFLEX developing 100hp. Furthermore, the car comes with he lowest insurance rating of all the compact class wagons evaluated by the Gesamtverband der Deutschen Versicherungswirtschaft (GDV) in Germany.

2011 Opel Astra Sports Tourer comes with a choice of 8 diesel and gasoline power units, with outpust between 95 and 180hp. Most of the engines will be imported from the hatchback version, but Opel's station wagon will get one new unit, as well as a new engine-transmission combination.

The new engine is 1.4 turbo with 120hp mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Astra lineup will also be available with a start/stop technology, to be used on the 1.3l CDTI ecoFLEX engine.

Among the new extras of 2011 Sports Tourer are the AFL+ adaptive forward lighting, Opel Eye front view camera system and the safety systems already featured on the hatchback Astra.

Furthermore, the car comes with the FlexFold Rear Seat system, a first in its segment, which allows the rear seats to fold 60/40. So the cargo load length can be increased up to 1835 mm.  The loading volume is in between 500 and 1550 liters, while Opel also plans to add a new FlexFix system for carrying bikes.

The price for the entry version – 2011 Opel Astra Sports Tourer 1.4 ecoFLEX is 18 000 Euro.
